The relationship between metabolic syndrome and skin diseases is gaining interest; new associations are frequently described; psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa are the main diseases related to metabolic syndrome, although this association is not limited to such diseases; several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases have been described. Skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, vitiligo, scleredema, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, Behçet’s disease, rosacea, necrobiosis lipoidica, granuloma annulare, skin tags, knuckle paddles and eruptive xanthomas are often related with metabolic syndrome; then, the purpose of this review is to explore the current evidence that supports these associations.
