Subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn is a rare lobular panniculitis, which occurs in the first weeks of life. It is characterized by erythematous-violaceous, asymptomatic, indurated, nodules and plaques, on the back, arms, thighs, buttocks and cheeks. It is a benign and self-limited disorder, which requires monitoring of patients due to the possible appearance of uncommon complications such as hypercalcemia, hypocalcemia, thrombocytopenia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypoglycemia and anemia being the same infrequent. A series of three clinical cases of fat necrosis of the newborn observed in our hospital, with risk factors for its development is presented.
